PSO2 Alpha Impressions (part 1)

The PSO2 alpha ended yesterday and with it ended a bit of the NDA.  While pictures and videos are still forbidden (though I know people aren’t really following that bit), text is now allowed so I thought I’d write a bit about the alpha.  I’m also waiting for the new Deus Ex game to download and that’s taking a while.  During the alpha I pretty much mainly played a cast ranger so my impressions will be from a ranger point of view.

Character Creation

I started out with a RAcaseal.  In PSO version one, I started with a HUmar.  There has been much talk about PSO2’s character creater but all of that has to do with flesh and blood characters.  Robot characters get a much more simpler character creation.  First you get to pick the parts: torso, arms, legs.  In the alpha, there were only two of each but there should be more in the full version.  There were two option for the head: face and type.  There were two face types available, PSO-ish RAcaseal and HUcaseal, and two head types available, a RAcaseal-like pony tail and bowl cut type of head.

After picking out the basics of a cast body, you can change the size of each piece.  There were five sizes available: SS, S, M, L, and XL.  You could also change the height of the character.

Since Javascript decided to kill my browser and lose a fair bit of stuff I had already written, I’m gonna stop here since that tends to kill any motivation I have.  I’ll try to write more later.
